As women it's quite common for us to experience times of stress and overwhelm which can also cause us to procrastinate and not think clearly which ends up deflating our courage and confidence and stops us from reaching our goals and being successful.
It serves us well to follow these 2 steps to calm ourselves and move into action.
Step 1: Calm Down
By making a conscious effort to calm your mind when life is spinning out of control, you will arm yourself with the positive and resourceful energy you need.
Here are 3 coaching tips to put into practice:
  1. Pause and reframe. Even though you may be having a bad day or even a bad week, you can think of many people and things you are grateful for. Focusing on those we love and what is good in our lives is a powerful way of controlling our body's response to stress and keeping things in check.

  2. Breathe deeply and slowly with focus. This ancient practice instantly reduces stress and allows us to tap into our creative energy. And from our creative resources, we can find the solutions we need.

  3. Know what you can and cannot control. Make of list of the things that overwhelm you. After you do, put a check by the things you can control or influence. Review the other things on your list and acknowledge that you cannot control these items. When you do that, commit to letting them go.
Step 2 Move into action
With a clear mind you'll be in a much better position to beat procrastination and get into motion.
Below are seven simple steps to help you move into action and avoid procrastinating:
  1. Make a list of all the tasks you have been putting off.
  2. Prioritize what is most important and what can wait.
  3. From the tasks that are most important, prioritize them based on what can be completed easily and what requires more time and effort.
  4. Create action steps needed to accomplish each task (small steps).
  5. Monitor your progress and scratch completed items off your list.
  6. Get the support you need. If you are uncertain of the best way to approach a task, ask a friend - or support from a coach.
  7. Plan rewards and celebrations for your accomplishments.
Make your list today, start taking action, experience more confidence and go from stress to success as you take charge of your health.
